Alexander Duopu, Deputy Minister for Instruction, Ministry of Education<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partners from Yale University, Vanderbilt University, USAID, HRSA, Bridge-U<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UL Officials, Faculty, Students and Staff<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Graduates of Camp Xsel Inaugural Class of 2021<\/p>\n<p>Facilitators of Camp Xsel Class<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Press&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Distinguished ladies and gentlemen.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I am very delighted to be at this program to celebrate two major events:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp; &nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To honor the Camp Xsel inaugural class of 2021, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp; &nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To launch the Revised UL Medical School Curriculum<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These events today are significant achievements of UL President Prof. Dr. Julius Sarwolo Nelson\u2019s vision of <\/span><b><i>\u201cbrightening the light in the darkness\u201d<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when formally took over as the 15<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> President of the University of Liberia on 28<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> November 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his Inaugural Speech, Prof. Nelson challenged us to <\/span><b><i>carry out comprehensive review and revision all curricula across academic programs at UL to ensuring that our curricula are benchmarked against other outstanding Universities within the sub-region and globally to ensure our graduates can compete with their compatriots within the sub-region and beyond<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. At that time, I was the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Forestry. I had no idea that President Nelson would ask me to join his team as the Vice President for Academic Affairs to assist him to champion his academic revitalization efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp; &nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Revised UL Medical School Curriculum is a huge step in fulfilling our dream of making all the academic programs more student-centered and experiential.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &nbsp; &nbsp; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I wish to thank Prof. MD. Bernice Dahn, Prof. Z\u2019Sherman Adams, present and former Vice Presidents [respectively]&nbsp; for Health Sciences, and their hard-working team for making this dream a reality.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are especially grateful to the US Government through its Embassy in Liberia for the tremendous financial and technical support that have enabled the University of Liberia to achieve this big dream. Your Excellency, Ambassador McCarthy, on behalf of the entire University of Liberia family, we wish to thank the people and government of the USA for the continuous financial and technical support to various units within our university.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On this note, on behalf of the President of the University of Liberia, Prof. Dr. Nelson, I hereby accept the Approved Revised Curriculum of the A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine from the Dean, <\/span><b><i>Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lawrence Sherman<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the Vice President for Health Sciences<\/span><b><i> Prof. Dr. Bernice Dahn<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, I wish to thank you and the entire team that developed this innovative and demand-driven revised curriculum.
