{"id":23524,"date":"2025-09-23T08:03:46","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T08:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/?p=23524"},"modified":"2025-11-14T09:34:47","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T09:34:47","slug":"ul-the-liberia-water-sewer-corporation-launch-collaboration-to-renovate-uls-bathrooms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/ul-the-liberia-water-sewer-corporation-launch-collaboration-to-renovate-uls-bathrooms\/","title":{"rendered":"UL &amp; the Liberia Water &amp; Sewer Corporation Launch Collaboration to Renovate UL&#8217;s Bathrooms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Capitol Hill Campus, Monrovia, Liberia &#8211; September 23, 2025<br>&nbsp;<br>The&nbsp;<strong>University of Liberia (UL)<\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong>Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC)<\/strong>&nbsp;have announced a groundbreaking partnership to renovate all of UL\u2019s bathrooms across its Capitol Hill, Fendall and Health Sciences campuses.<br>&nbsp;<br>Earlier today, UL President Dr. Layli Maparyan met with Honorable Mo Ali, Managing Director of LWSC, to cement the details of the initiative. Hon. Ali, accompanied by Mr. Patrick Sandikie, LWSC Deputy Director for Technical Services, presented the final report of a water and sanitation assessment that had been conducted on the Capitol Hill and Fendall campuses, noting that the Health Sciences campus assessment was underway.<br>&nbsp;<br>\u201cLWSC is well-positioned to collaborate with UL to improve both the water and the sanitation conditions on UL\u2019s campuses,\u201d Hon. Ali said. \u201cWe can work together, and we will.\u201d<br>&nbsp;<br>Under the government-to-government arrangement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>LWSC will rehabilitate wells on both campuses, including digging new boreholes where necessary, building new water storage facilities, fixing pipes and plumbing, and installing new bathroom facilities, including toilets and sinks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UL, using earmarked funds recently received from the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, will purchase the bathroom renovation supplies, while LWSC will cover the cost of strengthening Capitol Hill campus\u2019s access to Monrovia\u2019s water and sewer grid and digging new wells at Fendall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Labor will be a joint effort between LWSC professionals, UL\u2019s Plant Operations Department (POD), and UL\u2019s newly appointed cross-functional technical team.<br>\u00a0<br>\u00a0Work is expected to commence this week.<br>\u00a0<br>Also in attendance at the meeting was UL\u2019s new Interim Vice President for Administration, Mr. Sehmah R. Jallah, who has instructed UL\u2019s POD \u2013 led by Mr. Jefferson Walker \u2013 to \u00a0clean all the bathrooms on all the campuses this week in advance of the renovation.<br>\u00a0<br>\u00a0\u201cThe renovation workers deserve a clean and clutter free space in which to get going,\u201d Jallah remarked.<br>\u00a0<br>President Maparyan expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Ali and LWSC for the joint effort. She also underscored the initiative\u2019s importance to the entire UL community.<br>\u00a0<br>\u00a0\u201cThis is the collaboration we have been waiting for,\u201d she said. \u201cWe can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
