{"id":27800,"date":"2026-08-27T21:17:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T21:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/?p=27800"},"modified":"2026-08-27T21:17:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T21:17:23","slug":"ul-president-congratulates-2026-wassce-dux","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/ul-president-congratulates-2026-wassce-dux\/","title":{"rendered":"UL President Congratulates 2026 WASSCE Dux"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Capitol Hill (August 27, 2026) \u2013<\/strong> The University of Liberia President honored the 2026 Dux of the West African Senior Student Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) Thursday on Capitol Hill Campus, offering the young scholar admissions to the university with registration fees and transportation costs covered for four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Layli Maparyan also presented Joy Kamara, a senior at Faith Foundation School in Montserrado County, with the \u201cUL Academic Excellence Award achievement\u201d for officially being declared dux over the thousands of candidates who took the test nationwide. The President said Joy is an inspiration to many young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joy earned an aggregated average of 57.54 &#8211; 57.55. She invited Joy and parents to her Capitol Hill office to congratulate her and honor her with the award. During their meeting, Dr. Maparyan said UL would cover Joy\u2019s undergraduate studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Wassce-dux-3-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"Wassce dux\" class=\"wp-image-27803\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Wassce-dux-3-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Wassce-dux-3-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Wassce-dux-3-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Wassce-dux-3-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/ul.edu.lr\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Wassce-dux-3.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you decide to come to the University, it\u2019s on us,\u201d the President told Joy. The entrance exam would be waived for Joy and registration and transportation costs would be covered, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have always said that people who do their best in the exams should be able to come to the University free of charge,\u201d Dr. Maparyan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joy expressed appreciation to Dr. Maparyan and said it had been her wish to meet the President. She also disclosed how she has been inspired by the President\u2019s leadership and vision for Liberian students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSeeing me, today, shaking her hands is a great privilege, and I feel excited about it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Joy\u2019s parents also expressed gratitude to the President for recognizing their daughter\u2019s achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr. Kamara said the UL President has made his family proud.
