Madam Rosa “Rosie” Gumataotao Rios was the 43rd Treasurer of the United States and is most recently known for leading the efforts to place a portrait of a woman on the front of U.S. currency for the first time in over a century. Upon her resignation in 2016, she received the Hamilton Award, the highest honor bestowed in the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Rosie was the longest-serving Senate-confirmed Treasury official beginning with her time on the Treasury/Federal Reserve Transition Team in November 2008 at the height of the financial crisis. She is the CEO of Red River Associates, a real estate consulting firm, and has recently completed her term as a Visiting Scholar at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Dr. Carl Patrick Burrowes is Liberia’s leading historian. He’s served as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Cuttington University, Liberia, and Carter G. Woodson Distinguished Professor at Marshall University. Burrowes is the author of Between the Kola Forest and the Salty Sea: A History of the Liberia People Before 1800 and Power and Press Freedom in Liberia, 1830 to 1970. He is also co-author of, “The Historical Dictionary of Liberia”. His research has received awards from the International Communication Association and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. Patrick earned a Ph. D. in Communications, Temple University, 1994. |

Prof. Foday Sahr. Vice-Chancellor and Principal, University of Sierra Leone: Brigadier General Foday Sahr is a Surgeon Specialist, a Medical Doctor, and Surgeon General of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) Joint Medical Unit (JMU) 34 Military Hospital. The senior officer graduated with a BSc Ed Biological Science Njala University College in 1984. With his quest for education, Dr. Sahr further attained the following qualifications: BSc Hon Health Sciences College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences University of Sierra Leone in 1992, MB CH B Medicine and Surgery College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences University of Sierra Leone in 1995, MSc Microbiology College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences University of Sierra Leone in 2000, DSc Microbiology University of Science and Technology of China in 2006, and FWACP Lab Med in 2017. |

Dr. Afe Adogame, Maxwell M. Upson Professor of Religion and Society: Afe Adogame, the Maxwell M. Upson Professor of Religion and Society, is a leading scholar of the African diaspora. He earned a Ph.D. in the History of Religions from the University of Bayreuth in Germany and has served as associate professor of World Christianity and religious studies, and director international at School of Divinity, New College, at The University of Edinburgh in Scotland. His teaching and research interests are broad but tend to focus on interrogating new dynamics of religious experiences and expressions in Africa and the African diaspora, with a particular focus on African Christianities and new indigenous religious movements, the interconnectedness between religion and migration, globalization, politics, economy, media and the civil society. |

Dr. Joe A. D. Alie, Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies and Professor of History at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone: Joe A.D. Alie was born in Moyamba in the southern region of Sierra Leone. He is Professor of History at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, where he earlier received the Bachelor of Arts with Honours and Master of Arts degrees in Modern History. He earned his Ph.D. and Certificate in African Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Professor Alie studied education at Milton Margai Teachers College Goderich, near Freetown. He has considerable teaching experience at home and abroad. An award-winning writer and educationist, the Sierra Leone Government awarded Professor Alie with the title of Commander of the Order of the Rokel (COR) in 2006 for his contribution to education in the country.
