𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 (𝐏𝐡.𝐃.) 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬

The College of Gender Studies and Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Liberia is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree program in Gender and Security Studies. The program registration procedures will commence on Monday, August 18, 2025, and conclude on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀:

=) The minimum entry requirement is a Master of Science Degree in Gender Studies, Peace Studies, Security Studies, or any of the courses in the Social Sciences from a recognized institution with a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 3.25.
=) Candidates who have completed a specific degree needed to apply for the program and have not received evidence of their certificate can provide a copy of their clearance for graduation.
=) Candidates wishing to apply but have not obtained the specific degree needed to apply will participate in the short courses that will be introduced later.

𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:

1.) Curriculum Vitae (CV)/ Resume.
2.) Two Academic References.
3.) Research proposal that can be developed and defended (1,500-2,000 words).
4.) Copy of Transcripts and degree certificates. The original will be displayed before admission.
5.) Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in a related field from a recognized university and, should provide documentation indicating that they have earned such a degree before being shortlisted to sit an interview for the Ph.D. program.
6.) Applicants applying for the Ph.D. program must have accumulated a minimum of 3.25. GPA from their master’s degree.
7.) PhD candidates applying for the program must hold an official transcript.

𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮:

  • Academic background and performance.
  • Research experience and potential.
  • Quality of research proposal.
  • References.

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀:

1.) Complete online application portal.
2.) Application review by the Admissions Committee, comprising.

  • Chairperson: Director, Centre for Advanced Studies on Gender and Security.
  • Secretariat: Dean, College of Gender Studies, and Inter-disciplinary Research.
  • Members:
    i.) Representatives from the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
    ii.) Representatives from the Office of Graduate Studies.

3.) Shortlisted candidates notified via email and/or WhatsApp
4.) Final selection based on interview performance and application materials.
