MONROVIA, LIBERIA, FEBRUARY 20, 2026— Dr. Layli Maparyan, President of the University of Liberia, will host the President’s Ball and Fundraising Event on Saturday, February 28, 2026. This event aims to raise funds to address long-standing infrastructure challenges faced by the university. The President’s Ball is part of the University of Liberia’s 75th Anniversary Celebration, which began with a Thanksgiving Service on February 15, 2026, at UL’s Capitol Hill campus.
The President will also celebrate her birthday on this occasion. The fundraising ball will take place at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, bringing together distinguished guests, including government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, corporate partners, alumni, students, faculty, staff and stakeholders. The event is by invitation only, however, sponsorship opportunities are still available” where seats and tables can be purchased.
A Critical Initiative For The University’s Future
Since her inauguration in January 2025, President Maparyan has emphasized the importance of fundraising and forming global partnerships to secure resources for these initiatives. She has stated that a healthy, fully functional university must draw from a variety of external sources, including grants, donations, and fee-for-service revenue.
About Dr. Layli Maparyan
Dr. Layli Maparyan is the 16th President of the University of Liberia, appointed by H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., after a rigorous vetting process. A distinguished scholar, Dr. Maparyan earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Temple University and holds an M.S. from Penn State University. Her commitment to the academic community extends beyond Liberia; she has received numerous accolades for her service, including the Distinguished Citizen Award for Service to the Liberian Community.
Her ties to the University of Liberia began during her time as a Fulbright Specialist in 2010, and she has dedicated her career to fostering academic excellence and cultural understanding.
