Position: Director

Background/Description

The Graduate Program in Business and Public Administration is one of nine (9) graduate programs of the University of Liberia Graduate School.

The program offers master’s degree in management, Banking, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration and Procurement. It is the largest of all graduate programs currently at the University.

Position Objective

The Graduate Program Director is responsible for providing overall strategic leadership and administrative management to the program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Manages the administrative and academic programs of the Graduate Programs in Business and Public Administration, which include development of program, staff supervision, evaluation of the curriculum and facilitating revisions when necessary, course schedule preparation and preparation, faculty recruitment, coordination, and evaluation.
  • Oversees fulfilment of the requirements of students’ theses involving putting in place a realistic timetable and methodology for the assignment of theses advisors and committee to graduate students in good standing, proposal preparation and defense, thesis writing, defense, and publication.
  • Collaborates with other directors and heads of academic programs of professional schools and research institutes including the Liberia Institute for Policy Studies and Research, in developing a comprehensive research program on topical issues in business and public administration involving faculty, students, and visiting scholars. Collaborating with external universities and other institutions in the field of business and public administration as well as undertaking resource mobilization efforts for the program.
  • Implements all academic requirements and regulations and participates in academic activities such as serving on committees and performs other functions as may be prescribed, from time, to time by the DDion,Vice President for Graduate studies and Research and/or the President of the University of Liberia.

Selection Criteria / Qualification/Experience

  1. Earned Doctorate degree in Business, Public Administration, economics, or related field with a minimum of five years experience in academic administration from a reputable institution.
  • Proven academic and research record in business, public administration, or a related field in a relevant disciplinary area.
  • Strong leadership, management, communication, and people skills, with capacity to work cooperatively and in partnership with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, students and external partners,  and ability to mentor and guide faculty and students.
  • Ability to cultivate partnerships and attract support for enhancement of program objectives.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for the graduate program.
  • Understanding the Liberian Business and public administration environment.
