Dear Members of the UL Community:
I invite you to join me in welcoming our incoming president, Professor Dr. Layli Maparyan, as we embark on an important chapter in the history of our beloved institution.
I would like to express my gratitude to our distinguished visitor and president of our Republic, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., as well as the chair and members of the Board of Trustees of the University and the chair and members of the UL Search Committee for their unwavering support during the transparent and thorough search that led to the selection of Professor Maparyan.
Professor Maparyan is an internationally recognized administrator and a distinguished Professor of Gender Studies. The UL Board of Trustees will officially induct her as the 16th President of the University on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the UL Fendall Campus in Louisiana, Montserrado County.
She was selected through a competitive process facilitated by the UL Search Committee, following an extensive national and international search.
As we begin this new journey, I encourage all of you to come together in support of our new President. Let us unite to uphold her leadership as we collectively advance the mission and vision of our university.
In this new era, I urge everyone to refocus on our academic pursuits. Let us recommit ourselves to excellence in teaching, research, and learning.
To our faculty, I encourage you to continue pushing the boundaries of knowledge and inspire our students to reach their full potential.
To our students, please concentrate on your educational goals. Let us strive for academic excellence and seize the opportunities before us.
