UL Releases Schedule of Events for 75th Anniversary Celebration

MONROVIA, Liberia (February 12, 2026) — The University of Liberia has announced its schedule of events to commemorate its 75th anniversary, starting February 15. Established in 1951, the university invites all members of its community—including alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends—to participate in the celebrations.

The anniversary theme, “From OUR Foundation to OUR Future,” reflects the institution’s legacy while looking ahead to its future impact.

The celebration kicks off with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, February 15, at 2:00 PM, in the Auditorium, Capitol Hill campus, followed by a Grand Parade on Monday, February 16, at 9:00 AM, Fendall campus. Other scheduled events include Student Day on February 17 at 9:00 AM in Fendall, and Community & Partners Day on February 18, Capitol Hill campus.

Alumni Homecoming is set for February 20 at 9:00 AM, UL Capitol Hill campus, leading up to the ULAC Concert, a benefit concert on February 23 at 6:00 PM at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.

The week culminates with the President’s Fundraising Ball on February 28 at 6:00 PM, at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.

Cllr. Norris L. Tweah, Vice President for UL Relations and Chairperson of the UL 75th Anniversary Steering Committee, emphasized the importance of participation, noting that it honors the university’s role in transforming the community and the nation.

 The University of Liberia on Thursday, February 5, 2026, launched a year-long celebration commemorating 75 years since achieving university status in 1951, a globally recognized milestone known as the Diamond Anniversary. Founded in 1862 as Liberia College, UL is Liberia’s flagship university.

To launch the Diamond Anniversary celebration, a press conference was held on Thursday in the Nathaniel Casselle Building on the UL Capitol Hill campus. The event announced a series of activities planned to commemorate the 75th anniversary.

“This anniversary, by design, sets the tone for the future direction of this institution, and, building on the legacy of UL’s prior greatness, for our expansion into UL’s next highest and best version of itself,” said Dr. Layli Maparyan, President of the University of Liberia.
