The establishment of the School of Environmental Studies & Climate Change in September 2019, through collaboration with the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the National Adaptation Plans initiative, represented an important milestone in strengthening environmental and climate-change education in Liberia.

The Graduate Program celebrated its first graduating class of eight students—five males and three females—at the University’s 102nd Joint Commencement Convocation on March 21, 2022. Subsequent cohorts have continued to contribute professionals to Liberia’s environmental, governmental, academic, and development sectors.

At the undergraduate level, the Department of Environmental Studies & Climate Change graduated its inaugural class of four students at the 103rd Combined Commencement Convocation on May 30, 2023. Its second graduating class, comprising 20 students, graduated on September 17, 2024, demonstrating the rapid growth of environmental education at the University.
