The University of Liberia (UL), through the Office of Vice President for Students Affairs Prof. Sekou Konneh, has held a fruitful meeting with various colleges and campus-based organizations student representatives in a bid to finding workable solutions toward applying newly instituted measures and soliciting suggestions in response to the resurgence of Covid-19 in Liberia

During the meeting held on the Capitol Hill Campus Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the students agreed with UL Administration that classes should be conducted fully online and expressed confidence in the process based on experience from the past two semesters, the last of which was a blended online and traditional in-person semester. The students however suggested that there should be exceptions given for the conduct of face-to-face classes for specific courses that do require some levels of demonstrations or in-person interaction.

At the end of the meeting, a group was formed through the selection of student representatives to work along with the Office of Student Affairs to channel concerns and recommendations to both Faculty and Administration to ensure that further actions are taken where necessary to address challenges in the online learning process.

The meeting with the students on Tuesday followed an emergency UL Cabinet meeting held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, that concluded with the suspension of a couple of activities, pending consultations with stakeholders, and a final decision from the Joint Faculty Senate and Administrative Council this Friday, June 25, 2021.

Meanwhile on Monday, June 21,  President Nelson continued engagement with Government Stakeholders, Faculty, and academic directors on the University of Liberia appropriate operational and policy response to the new and deadly variant of the Corona Virus in Liberia as well as the alarming death rates.  

In adherence to the latest health protocol, the scheduled Joint Faculty Senate and Administrative Council (JFSAC) will be convened online via Zoom to formulate and adopt the university’s new Covid response policy for instruction and operation.
