Monrovia, Liberia (August 13, 2026) – University of Liberia President Dr. Layli Maparyan has received a donation of laptops and other information and communication technology supplies from the Public Procurement and Concession Commission to strengthen the university’s procurement systems.
Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) Executive Director Bodger Scott Johnson formally presented the donation Wednesday, August 12, to Dr. Maparyan at the commission’s Capitol Hill office.
The donation is aimed at ensuring that the university’s procurement arm is capacitated with the right tools and technology needed to meet procurement requirements using modernized systems.
Dr. Maparyan welcomed the donation, calling it an important step toward transparency, accountability, and efficiency at the university.
“The equipment will make it much easier for our Procurement Department to utilize the platform effectively and improve efficiency across all procurement-related operations,” President Maparyan said. She expressed sincere appreciation to the PPCC for such a valuable contribution to the university.
Dr. Maparyan also praised Mr. Johnson and the PPCC’s commitment in supporting the university’s institutional development, assuring him of the positive impact that the donated equipment will have on the university’s daily procurement operations.
PPCC Executive Director Mr. Johnson said that to facilitate timely documentation, improve communication, and enhance institutional accountability, it is important to equip procurement officers with the necessary technology.
He pledged continued collaboration with the university and other public institutions to strengthen procurement practices and promote systems that support transparency and efficiency in the management of public resources.
The donation is expected to contribute meaningfully to the operations of the university’s procurement department in a bid to build a more efficient, transparent, and accountable institution.
