UL Begins Digital Migration

The University of Liberia has begun a digital migration process that will fully integrate the university registration system, including course planning and scheduling, financial automation and enhanced academic management.

The President of the University of Liberia, Prof. Dr. Ophelia Inez Weeks, made the official announcement on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Fendall during the official announcement of the digitization-automation of the institution’s registration system.

Dr. Weeks disclosed that beginning next semester, which begins in few weeks’ time, students will now stay anywhere with their mobile phones or computers and register online without going through the old-age registration process. There were some who had betking nigeria mobile download

“I am very pleased to let you know that a Liberian soft-ware company, MWETANA, will provide the services for us,” said the University of Liberia President, who also said the project was made possible by President George M. Weah, Visitor to the University and President of Liberia.

“We have had this digitization project on mind as part of our plans, but financial constraint could not allow us to go through easily,” Dr. Weeks said.

Speaking to UL students, faculty and staff, Mr. Vivian Jones, CEO of the company given the task, assured the public that his company would work assiduously hard to make the University of Liberia a success story.

“This is not just one of the Liberian establishments that come and fail, we are committed to our job and will do our best to serve our people,” Mr. Jones added.

Asst. Prof. Adolphus Nippae, who chaired the Registration Enhancement Committee, said eleven companies were earlier contacted, both locally and internationally, to provide the services.

“MWETANA convinced us as a committee. Today, we join the President, Dr. Weeks, to inform you that this company will do our digitization to solve this old-age problem in this university,” he said.

It can be recalled that since the influx of students at the University of Liberia started early 2000, there have been very serious problems with registration. The problem has caused massive student demonstration nearly every semester.
