Officers of the 99th Graduating Class (“Kwage; -We have done it”) – have been inducted into office on the Capitol Hill Campus of the University of Liberia to stir the affairs of the class during the pending December 2018 Graduation. Those inducted include Mr. Aruna Bongura, President; Veronica Gabardeh, Vice President; Mr. Lawrence W. Doe, Secretary General.

1. Zeogar Wilson, Minister of Youth and Sports, served as Keynote Speaker and spoke on the topic: “Leadership Is Not about Bearing Titles, but an Attitude of Service.” Min. Wilson reminded the officers to see themselves as individuals who are ready to lead, adding, “Please see yourselves not as those leaders who are in control, but those leaders who are ready to lead and serve.”

Min. Wilson further urged the inducted officers to demonstrate the true essence of leadership, emphasizing, “Our existence as a country and a people cannot commensurate with the outputs that we have to showcase to the rest of the world as achievements. We need to be sincere and patriotically committed to making this nation lives up to the true meaning of its existence. Our nation needs us now than ever before, our generation needs to positively count towards the building of this nation thereby generating the merited respect amongst the comity of nations.”

Min. Wilson encouraged the officers to serve their comrades as they take over the leadership of the class, stressing, “Let me remind you that leadership is practiced not so much in words but in attitude and actions, go out there and serve well. Be that honest and communicative, inspirational and people-centered leaders.”

In his induction remark, Aruna Bongura, President of the Graduating Class, pledged his leadership fullest commitment to seek the welfare of his fellow students in whatever way possible, noting, “Let me assure comrades of my readiness to go all out to seek your welfare. Our role will not be to engage in fancy dress code, but will go all out to make this 99^th Graduating Class the best.”

Bongura said leadership is an opportunity to serve and build any society for the betterment of its people, indicating that, “Because section of the society including the University of Liberia depends on us as emerging leaders, we will spare no effort to work in every capacity to bring positive changes to our institution and nation.”

He thanked his colleagues for electing them to steer the affairs of the 99^th Graduating Class of the University and promised to uphold the confidence reposed in them to provide quality leadership for the class.

Seven representatives from each of the six undergraduate colleges voted to elect the president, vice president and general secretary. Aruna Bangura won four of the colleges,  accounting for over 60 percent of the votes in the September 19, 2018 poll. The election was held on the Fendall Campus of the University of Liberia and was organized by the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Also speaking, UL Associate VP for Faculty Development, Prof. Steve Jubwe commended members of the 99^th Graduating Class for the conduct of a successful election that culminated into the induction of officers of the class.

Prof. Jugwe however reminded them to continue to exhibit discipline and high moral values even as they set to exit the walls of the University of Liberia. VP Jubwe recounting their days during their studies as challenging and rewarding and noted that the 99^th Graduating Class will be remembered as the first class to benefit from the UL online registration process that was launched recently by the President of the Republic of Liberia.

In similar development, Graduating Seniors at the University of Liberia Graduate Schools have also elected Jehu K.M. Jacobs, Loretta A. Pope-Kai, James T. Boch, Gabriel B. Nyepan, Joyce A. Achevong and Jaimama A. Kollie as President, Vice President, Secretary General, Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Chaplain respectively.
